Purpose of the job

One of the 5 pillars in the AkzoNobel Information Management strategy is ‘becoming data-centric’, to unlock the value in our company’s data. To support this ambition, we are looking for an Enterprise Information Architect to help shape this journey and define the required changes in the organization, platforms and solutions and data governance. Although the journey has started, it is still in its early days, and requires setting direction by establishing the information architecture principles, a standard for a data model and a roadmap. Therefor we are looking for a seasoned Information Architect, a team player in the Enterprise Architecture team in the CIO Office, to give guidance to this exciting change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthens the impact of, and provides recommendations on, business information that will need to be available and shared consistently across the organization through identification, definition and analysis of how information assets and strategies and business outcomes.
  • Develop enterprise information architecture: Develop and use an enterprise information architecture model to provide the organization with a future-state view of the information landscape that is unencumbered by the specific data implementation details imposed by proprietary solutions or technologies.
  • Influence information strategy: By partnering with business process owners and through the rationalization of the information value chain, the information architect will provide strategic recommendations to maximize the value of information assets via their creation, access and use.
  • Maximize value derived from data and analytics: Foster value creation using the organization's data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem. This includes aiding value creation through data exploitation, envisioning data-enabled strategies, as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics, data and analytics governance, and enterprise information policy.
  • Enable effective data and analytics governance: Suggest who can take what actions with what information, and under what circumstances. Assist data and analytics leaders, and business and IT leadership in developing information governance processes and structures.
  • Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) [and CDO] to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as a protected asset.
  • Improve EIM performance: Aid efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information solutions and capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure components.

Supports the Global Process Owner for Master Data Management in strategic and tactical challenges in areas of governance, processes, tools and standards .

What do you bring?

  • Master degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering or a related field of study     
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/process industry
  • Professional with around 10 years of experience in the IT sector
  • Demonstrable experience with enterprise information architecture
  • 5+ years’ experience in an architecture role and has worked as a consultant
  • TOGAF certified or equivalent
  • Experienced with EA tools and information and data  modeling
  • Worked in an international environment combined with outsourced operations/IT services

  • Big picture thinking; ability to understand the enterprise-wide implications of day to day decisions and thinking and working from a frameworks and principles perspective, rather than a per project perspective
