Job Purpose

 

AkzoNobel is renewing its infrastructure in many areas. Currently large programs are executed to deliver next generation solutions for its networking and workplace. The digital cloud platform on Azure has matured for differentiating IT, IoT and data platform. More and more traditional workloads are now moving to the cloud as well.

 

The Enterprise Architecture function is responsible for maintaining the Enterprise Architecture (EA) landscape at AkzoNobel and setting the EA Roadmap in line with business demands. The Enterprise Architect for technology analyzes business trends and technology trends in the infrastructure domain and translates these into architecture standards, reference architectures and roadmaps.

 

The Enterprise Architect for technology reports into the Manager Enterprise Architecture in the CIO Office. 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Initiate and build strategic plans and roadmaps on business segment level;
  • Analyze business segments to derive business, information and technical architecture requirements;
  • Analyze industry, technology and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the Business segment's strategy and IT architecture requirements;
  • Analyze current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement;
  • Support the creation of roadmaps to address gaps between current state and future state via intermediate architecture designs;
  • Create architectural deliverables in line with business needs and agreed priorities (IPM) through collaboration with solution architects, information architects and business analysts in waterfall and agile managed projects;
  • Ensure architecture designs are aligned with strategies, EA principles and relevant guidelines;
  • Ensure architecture deliverables are created according to the AkzoNobel EA Framework;
  • Contribute to new innovations within IM in coordination with the CoE Digital and other CoE’s;
  • Ensure effective relationships are maintained with relevant industry bodies and EA communities;
  • Support solution architects and (agile) project teams to develop and deliver the agreed architecture;
  • Develop and maintains EA related principles and policies;
  • Communicate architecture deliverables effectively to stakeholders in the business and IM through appropriate channels;
  • Create fit for purpose architecture;
  • Adopts an agile way of working and develop architecture designs in line with the digital transformation agenda and the different speeds of execution.

Experience

 

Experience / Education

 

  • Master degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering or a related field of study;    
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/process industry;
  • Professional with around 10 years of experience in the IT sector;   
  • Demonstrable experience with enterprise architecture;
  • 5+ years’ experience in an architecture role and has worked as a consultant;
  • TOGAF certified or equivalent;
  • Experienced with EA tools and business process modeling;
  • Worked in an international environment combined with outsourced operations/IT services.

  • Able to speak in the output of the work they do, rather than the work itself;
  • Think increasingly in frameworks and principles, rather than per project.
