Job Purpose

 

The Domain Manager Global Network and Connectivity Services is a key position among the IT operations teams of AkzoNobel. You own & drive operational excellence of all our global network- and connectivity services (SDWAN, LAN, network security, firewalls and telephony services). This is a vast domain, most of which is outsourced to an ecosystem of external service providers. You work with them as strategic partners, hence you are comfortable with vendor governance (strategic, tactical and operational), contract negotiations, KPI reviews, and planning for YoY performance improvement. You are also comfortable managing a 20+M infra budget, including stretched saving targets. You lead & grow a small, specialized team (5-6 FTE) of Delivery Managers. Together you ensure that contracted service providers deliver these services as per agreed budget, performance levels. You actively work with many different stakeholders across the globe, both in IT as well as business. You are a strong communicator, and you easily connect to and win buy in of many different parties. You are a structured thinker, an infrastructure strategist well informed on technology and ‘what actually works’ and ‘what is a nice sales pitch’. You are well connected to your peers in other companies, and well connected to global infra vendors. The Domain Manager Global Network and Connectivity Services reports into the Manager Infrastructure Managed Services in the GBS Information Management (GBS IM) organization. GBS IM the global IT service delivery unit within GBS, under the functional responsibility of the CIO. GBS IM is responsible for providing End-to-End IT services to the business units and the 34.500 end-users across 1.000 locations, while simplifying, standardizing, globalizing and automating underlying processes. A large part of the service delivery activities is outsourced to external service providers as strategic partners. This implies that the GBS IM is largely dependent on the performance of and cooperation with these partners, and that these need to be managed accordingly.
 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Manage the Delivery Managers in the domain team, evaluate and provide feedback to develop people and skills;
  • Lead by example and actively engage and motivate the domain team;
  • Foster an environment where people work together and leverage off each other;
  • End-to-end responsible for delivery and service management of Network and Telephony Services (SDWAN, LAN, network security, firewalls and telephony services);
  • Steer and support Delivery Managers for execution of the service level agreements from service providers in this domain and towards the business and ultimately 34.500 endusers across 1.000 locations, ensuring that SLAs are met. Make sure that all IT service management processes, operational agreements underpinning contracts are appropriate and aligned for the agreed service level targets;
  • Enhance business perception of IT by quickly resolving and communicating requests and incidents. Maintain and improve user satisfaction with the quality of telephony services;
  • Steer and support Delivery Managers for ongoing analysis, documentation, management and reporting of incidents and requests in operations. Steer and support Delivery Managers to monitor and report on service levels;
  • Responsible for budget and spend of contracted and delivered services. Steer and support Delivery Managers in forecast planning per agreed period with service providers and internal business representatives;
  • Drive knowledge management and value extraction within the Domain;
  • Actively seek alignment and cooperation (‘shoulder to shoulder’ mindset) with internal colleagues and external service providers;
  • Raise the bar with the Delivery Managers by continuously look for ways to improve, also by staying abreast of external trends;
  • Pro-actively contribute to the operational integrity of GBS operations globally through continuous improvement and operational excellence;
  • Work with Contract & Vendor Managers in the sourcing team in order to drive effective contract and vendor management, identify and pursue sourcing opportunities and improve service partner risk areas;
  • Ensure that the services operate in line with the AkzoNobel Security & Compliance framework, specifically in organizing appropriate controls and complying with the relevant elements of the GBS IM operating model and related operational services documentation.

 

Experience

 

  • Master/ bachelor degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field of study;
  • Professional with minimum of 10 years of experience in the IT sector including 5+ years managing IT service delivery professionals across a diverse geographies and organizational cultures;
  • Strong service management experience;
  • Strong outsourcing and vendor management skills;
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing/ process industry;
  • Knowledge of best practice solutions in the shared solutions space;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the assigned service domain;
  • Individual must demonstrate ability to act autonomously;
  • Multiyear experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams of specialists in the IT sector;
  • Good understanding of AkzoNobel business environment and deep understanding of AkzoNobel IM strategy;
  • Helicopter view over Infrastructure Services activities, knowledge about the market for Infrastructure Services.
