Purpose of the job

The Consolidation Expert contributes to the AkzoNobel consolidation process by maintaining the corporate consolidation system (currently HFM; Hyperion Financial Management).

You will be the linking pin between the (±850) users of HFM on the one hand and the Application Management (AkzoNobel Information Management; AIM). In addition, you are involved in continuous improvement of the consolidation application and also in the design of the future (consolidation) systems landscape.


Key responsibilities

  • During closing periods, you will manage: Interfacing, consolidation, currency loading and the finalization of the financial closing process.
  • In light of continuous streamlining and improving the current consolidation / reporting processes initiating and coordinating changes in the HFM consolidation system including restatements and executing tests and acceptance activities.
  • Planning and coordinating IT activities within the Consolidation Department, covering security management.
  • Education of users of the system.
  • Due to the dedicated nature of the team, each team member is expected to have their own specialisms, but also be able to function as back up for other team members.
  • Effective communication to all users, including the accounting community, FP&A and others.


What do you bring?

In this role we are looking for an outstanding system expert with in-depth HFM knowledge and strong analytical skills. Someone who is detail oriented, brings an international background and can work with the scope of different offices, functions overseas. We would like someone who initiates new ideas and takes ownership of certain processes, consolidation areas.

Furthermore, we would like to highlight the following requirements:

  • Academic level (economics, accounting).
  • IT background with at least 5 years of experience in consolidation, accounting and reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of financial reporting software (preferably including Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and related applications).
  • Proficiency in the English (business) language (verbally and in writing).
  • Very effective communication skills, high level of customer and result orientation is required.
  • Understanding accounting principles, IT systems, knowledge of organizational structure.
  • Practical experience in driving process improvements, good understanding of the importance of change management, ownership and collaboration.
  • Highly analytical, with problem-solving and pragmatic skills, pro-active initiator of change.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
